American Airlines Just Ordered 50 New Airbus Planes, And Its A Huge Blow For Boeing

Boeing took yet another hit on Wednesday.

Airbus announced that American Airlines, the world's largest air carrier by passenger traffic, would buy 50 new Airbus A321XLR planes.

The A321XLR is a single-aisle plane that can travel up to 4,700 nautical miles β€” enabling it for trips from the US to Europe.

Airbus said in a statement that the aircraft is ideal for less-traveled, long-distance routes that can only be served right now by bulky, widebody aircraft.
