Farmers are all set to hold their tractor rally in the capital on Republic Day. Preparations have been made by the authorities who are keeping a tight vigil to avoid any untoward incident. Farmers will enter the capital from Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur as farmer unions have claimed that around 2 lakh tractors will be part of the rally. Delhi Police has asked people to avoid NH44, GT-Karnal road & NH10 which are likely to be affected by the farmers’ rallies. Delhi police chief said that he has been in touch with farmers leaders and added he is confident all rallies will happen peacefully. Farmers are protesting against the Centre’s three farm laws. Several rounds of discussions have failed to break the ice with the farmers demanding complete withdrawal of the laws while the government maintains that the protesters are being misled. ‘Over 3 lakh Covid patients recovered in Home Isolation’: Delhi CM Kejriwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Delhi’s health system didn’t collapse during Covid due to reforms and better management. Kejriwal was speaking at a Republic day event in Delhi. The chief minister said despite drying up of tax revenue due to the pandemic, the AAP government managed to pay salaries to its employees. While talking about the pandemic, Kejriwal said that over 3.12 lakh people recovered under home isolation that was started first in Delhi. “In developed countries, patients were lying on floors in corridors. We studied it and understood that everyone who got sick was taken to hospital, even those with mild symptoms. Doctors in Delhi came up with home isolation. The Shesh Netra Lake in Badrinath was frozen in some parts as snowfall enveloped the region. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the portals of the Badrinath Temple in Chamoli district, one of the four Hindu pilgrimage sites, is closed for the winter since November 19, 2020. Temperature also dipped in parts of Himachal Pradesh after fresh snowfall in the Dhauladhar range. Dharamshala also witnessed rainfall on Sunday leading to a further dip in temperature. ‘Don’t invite & insult’: Mamata declines to speak amid ‘Jai Shree Ram’ chants

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declined to speak at an event where ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans were raised in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event was organized to celebrate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's 125th birth anniversary in Kolkata. Slogans were raised after it was announced that Banerjee would address the programme. “I think a government programme should have some dignity. This is a government programme and not a political party's programme. I am grateful to the Prime Minister, Culture Ministry for organizing an event in Kolkata. But it is not right to invite someone and insult them. In protest, I won’t speak. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla,” wrapped up Mamata. BJP leader and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandnephew condemned Mamata’s behavior at the event. He said, “Jai Shree Ram isn't a statement where one should react in a very allergic manner. ‘If China can be aggressive at LAC, so can we’: IAF Chief RKS Bhadauria

Indian Air Force Chief (IAF) Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria said that India too can be aggressive if China shows aggression. While addressing a press conference in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on the sidelines of IAF and the French Air and Space Force's bilateral exercise 'Desert Knight-21', Bhadauria said, “If they (China) can be aggressive, so can we. We are fully prepared.” The IAF Chief also said that eight Rafale fighter jets have arrived in India and three will come by the end of the month. “Enough pilots are being trained. Parallel training is also being done in India. Numbers will be enough so that we can maintain cockpit to pilot ratio. By next year, the induction of the jets will conclude," he added. Exercise Desert Knight-21 is being held at Jodhpur Air Force Station from January 20 to January 24. The French are participating with Rafale, Airbus A-330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), A-400M Tactical Transport aircraft and approximately 175 personnel. The IAF aircrafts participating in the exercise include Mirage 2000, Su-30 MKI, Rafale, IL-78 Flight Refuelling Aircraft, AWACS and AEW&C aircraft. The exercise marks an important milestone in the series of engagements between the two air forces. Watch the full video for more.

The Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday issued an advisory on the arrangements and restrictions in place for smooth conduct of Full Dress Rehearsal on January 23 for the Republic Day parade. The parade rehearsal will start at 9.50 am on Saturday from Vijay Chowk and will proceed to the National Stadium, they said. Traffic movement on certain roads leading to the parade's route will be restricted, and no traffic will be allowed on Vijay Chowk from 6 pm on Friday till the rehearsal is over on Saturday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manish Kumar Agarwal said. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee kicked off a grand procession to pay tribute to Netaji Subhas Bose. The procession, to mark Bose's 125th birth anniversary. started from Syambazar area. Before the commencement of the procession, Banerjee blew a conch shell. A siren was sounded at 12.15 pm, the time when Bose was born on this day in 1897. Banerjee also urged the Centre to declare Netaji's birthday as a national holiday. The seven-km procession culminated at Netaji Subhash Bose's statue on the Red Road. Hundreds of people, senior TMC leaders, MLAs joined the procession to pay homage to Netaji. Chief secy Alapan Bandyopadhyay, other state govt bureaucrats were also present in the rally.

Protesting farmers conducted full dress rehearsal for a parallel parade on Republic Day. Thousands of farmers to take out the Kisan tractor parade in Delhi on January 26. Farm unions said the tractor parade will be conducted in a 'disciplined, peaceful' manner. Samyukt Kisan Morcha, umbrella body of 40 unions, said parade would cover a 60-km stretch. Farm unions added that tractor parade would pass through New Delhi's Outer Ring Road. Tractors during parade would display the national flag along with flags of farm unions. Farmers also said their march would commence only after military parade on Rajpath ends. The 11th round of discussions between government and farmers failed to make any progress on Friday. The talks hit a roadblock as farmer leaders stand firm with their demands.
