Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed gratitude to Pope Leo XIV for offering to mediate global peace.
In a heartfelt message on X, Zelensky called peace Ukraine’s “most sacred wish” and welcomed the Pope’s readiness to help end war.
He reaffirmed Kyiv’s call for a full ceasefire and proposed a personal high-level meeting with Russia.
The Pope had made his offer during an audience with Eastern Church pilgrims in Rome.
His remarks are the latest in a string of Vatican efforts to reduce tensions worldwide and promote diplomacy over war.
