Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed renewed peace talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, starting Thursday, May 15.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the offer, calling it a “positive sign” and demanding a full ceasefire from May 12.
The proposal comes amid threats of new sanctions from Western allies if Russia rejects a 30-day truce.
U.S. President Trump hailed the move as “a potentially great day,” pledging support to both sides.
European leaders also backed the plan during a visit to Kyiv.
The Kremlin insists Moscow is serious about a diplomatic resolution.
