Russian Police Reportedly Search Protesters' Phones

Police in Russia are reportedly stopping people in public to scroll through their phones and check their online activity.

This footage was taken near an anti-war demonstration at a square in Moscow.

‘Here the police stop people and demand to show what they have in their phones, scroll through correspondence and photos there.

Otherwise they don’t pass on,’ said Anna Vasilyeva, who took the video.

‘I approached and asked why they demanded it.

The police checked my press card and did not answer.’ According to Russian human rights NGO OVD-Info, an estimated 5,000 people were arrested in Russia this past weekend alone for opposing Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
