Staff at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend are working to show young patients and their families that important appointments during the pandemic are safe and not scary.

Precautions at the doctor's office can seem pretty intimidating to young patients-- but riverbend hospital is trying to dispel those fears.

Staff will be sharing videos of kids getting coronavirus tests and putting on masks.

They say they are concerned families are delaying regular check-ups and immunizations during the pandemic.

We spoke to one young patient today who got a coronavirus test.

"it kind of felt like a little bit of pressure inside of your nose.

It's like putting a q-tip up your nose.

It's doesn't hurt that much.

Your eyes water a bit."

Staff say it's tempting to try and protect children from information about visits that feel unusual or scary-- but making sure they are prepared makes everything go more smoothly.
