Florence has Memorial Day program with coronavirus safety rules
The pandemic didn't keep the city of florence from observing memorial day.
Normally -- hundreds of people go to veterans park for the city's memorial day program.
But -- the public wasn't invited this year.
Everyone at the event social distanced - and some wore masks.
Retired military members laid wreaths to honor those killed while serving our country.
We spoke with an air force colonel who said he lost friends in action and training exercises.
As i laid the wreath i thought about my friends and how they represent the hundreds of thousands of americans through the years who have given their lives in defense of our country the city told us it considered not having the event because of the pandemic -- but then decided they could social distance safely - and still have the event without the public present.
