Amid growing U.S. pressure over India’s purchases of Russian oil, Moscow has offered India a 5% discount to soften the impact of American tariffs.
Russian diplomat Roman Babushkin criticized the U.S. for unjustified pressure and accused Western nations of acting like neocolonial powers.
He emphasized that Russia remains India’s biggest crude supplier and that energy cooperation between the two nations will continue despite sanctions and threats of secondary penalties from Washington.
The move comes as U.S. tariffs on Indian goods are scheduled to take effect.
