Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov downplayed Donald Trump’s prediction that there is a 25% chance the upcoming Alaska summit with President Vladimir Putin could fail.
Speaking ahead of the high-stakes talks, Lavrov said Russia would not engage in forecasting outcomes, emphasizing that Moscow has “arguments and a clear, definite position” ready for the meeting.
He credited U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s close associate, with laying much of the groundwork for the discussions and expressed hope that negotiations would continue into the next day.
