Moving at 36 km/h toward the Taiwan Strait and China, the storm triggered over 380 flight cancellations and the evacuation of more than 5,500 residents from vulnerable areas.
Authorities warned of up to 600 mm of rainfall in mountain regions, risking floods and landslides.
Hong Kong issued a Signal One warning, while China’s Fujian Province braces for Podul’s impact later this week.
