At a Kremlin ceremony, Putin praised Lavrov’s “courage and willingness to defend Russia regardless of the circumstances.” Lavrov, decked in formal regalia, pledged to fight against “international evil” and continue promoting Russia’s interests abroad.
This comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions and mounting Western criticism.
The ceremony was symbolic of Russia’s push to rally domestic and international support around its diplomatic corps.
