Someone in California Won Powerball’s $1.7 Billion Jackpot

A single-ticket holder from California was the sole winner of an estimated $1.77 billion Powerball drawing, making it the second-largest lottery jackpot in history.

Before someone won the giant prize, there had been 35 consecutive drawings without a big winner, stretching back to July 19 when a player in California matched all six numbers and won $1.08 billion.
