Fruit seller's cart overthrown by BMC officials amid curfew

In a video going viral on social media, it has been claimed that few officials of the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) overthrew the cart of a fruit seller amid the tough restrictions in the city in view of the COVID-19.

Furqan Shaikh, the fruit seller, told ANI that some of BMC officials turned over his fruit cart, destroying most of the produce on it worth Rs 3,000 and left with his cart.

Shaikh said he paid Rs 2,200 as fine at the BMC office to retrieve his cart.

Shaikh explained that he has been selling fruits in Mumbai for the last 15 years, and although he has experienced his share of harassment, police officials mostly just told him to follow COVID protocols during his work.
