Documentary film exploring role in slavery and set part for healthy reconciliation within the community.

Debut friday at the bend in north charleston on march march 18th.

There's a planned virtual discussion about the film and its impacts.

We learned an internal candidate for isle of palms fire chief rejected the offer.

Some city leaders say the position was declined because of the split vote on council.

Rion buchanan says motion to only look at external candidates moving forward is the wrong idea.

I would like internal candidate because they realize the issues going on within the department.

They can jump in right away and try and solve those issues.

A lot of external candidates want to come in, don't necessarily know the dynamics of the department and it may take awhile for them to get -- set into the department.

Buchanan says all ten of the original candidates should be considered.

He also explained there needs to be an open discussion among city leaders.

Elected official says he hopes city council can come to a decision by an iop council meeting scheduled for later this month.
