Kentucky Governor Beshear recommends schools delay in-person class until end of September

The constant hike in case - has some local leaders thinking twice --- about the safety of the first bell.

Governor andy beshear - urging district to - pause - and re-think the time-line for returning to the classroom.

Kentucky parents tonight-- and the schools their kids attend--now making adjustments.

With the governor saying--in-person classes-- shouldn't start until september 28th.

And while mom of three katrina jennings--wishes her henderson county schools kid could be in front of the board instead.

I feel it'd be great for these kids to go back to school.

They need their peers.

They need teachers.

I didn't go to school to be a teacher, so it's hard for me to do what these teachers are actually paid to do.

She recognizes the reality--of the pandemic taking priority.

"i have a feeling it'll end up being extended.

They really should do all virtual at this point."

The governor-- giving a number of reasons behind the push to online.

Big spikes across the state topping.

This as thousands of kids across america--have tested positive for covid-19-- kentucky kids among them--and the state tonight--doesn't even know how many.

"today, 13 kids under five tested positive, and that's sadly impacted by how the reports are coming in as well.

We unfortunately probably have a number of additional ones beyond that."

Already tonight-- henderson county schools-- announcing they're adjusting their plans--for a virtual start.

And ahead of the kentucky high school athletic association -- meeting tomorrow to discuss the future of school sports.

The governor-- saying i think we'll learn more from khsaa.

I certainly think there are some fall sports that are going to be a challenge to hold.

I still think there should be consideration with moving them to spring.

That creates some differences, but we may see
