But there's a long list of things the state is strongly recommending schools do... before schools open, the board of education made essential recommendations that include schools reviewing all of their student plans for students with special health care needs in order to make changes to reduce their risk of exposure.
Additionally, individualized education programs are expected to be revised and updated to accommodate whatever services are needed.
Schools are also expected to alert custodial and infection control staffs of any changes in cleaning guidelines.
When students return to campus, it's been deemed essential there is a designated quarantine area at each school for children who get sick on campus.
Those students who are picked up are expected to remain home until fully recovered.
Parents are also asked to monitor their child for symptoms, taking their temperature every day and keeping them home if anything comes up.
It is currently unclear if and how the recommendation s will be enforced by the department of education.
