Books.

In efforts to keep down the spread of coronavirus, the doors to the starkville library are locked.

That does not mean that you can't check out your favorite books.

"right now we're offering curbside service it's in an effort to make sure we're able to protect our patrons and our staff."

Although the starkville library is open, it remains empty.

Starkville library director phillip carter says right now you can order books by phone.

He says residents can get their books by curbside pick up.

"they can online to our catalog they can request books over the phone with us, we'll pull them from the shelves, they'll call us when they get here, we come out we meet them, we wear masks during all interactions."

Book returns are also different now.

"we're not taking returns by hand we're asking people to return to those boxes because we are quarantining those materials."

He says this is all in an effort to work towards reopening to the public as soon as it's safe.

"we're trying to find the best possible methods to keep people safe."
