Vigo county school corporation has plans in place to give high school seniors the experience they deserve.

At 5...i told you about the first of two separate opportunities for celebration.

Communications director for the school corp bill riley spoke about what to expect...the precatutions in place... and why it was so important to do of of this in person.

Vigo county high school seniors will be able to celebrate their graduation during 2 modified...in-person ceremonies.

The first will be june 6th...inside their respective autotoriums...with only parents or guardians present.

The second will be split between both july 17th and july 18th on terre haute north, south, and west vigo's football fields.

"we knew it had to be outside because of governor holcomb's stages...so again..details could change here.

We're going to stay in touch with our health department and the state and follow all the guidelines and keep everybody safe because our schools are a product of our community and we want to keep our community safe."

Riley says... students will be seated with space in between seats...and the number of guests per student is to be determined.

He hopes that a significant number of family and friends can attend graduation ceremonies..

But they will base that decision on the best covid-19 related information at that time.

"we just don't know how many folks will be able to come with the graduates because we don't know how much space we'll need to give in between families to be honest.

Even though it is outdoors...we still want to provide the safest possible event."

Overall...riley says they wanted to avoid a virtual ceremony at all costs.

He says this is to give high school seniors the experience and lasting memories they deserve.

"if you recall your high school graduation--those butterflies you get in your chest.

When you're hearing your name called..

When you get that diploma..it's a special moment and our seniors deserve to feel that special moment."

Riley says all the information you need is on team vigo's facebook page.

Of course we will have everything you need to know on our website.
