Thai family shocked after finding huge monitor lizard in bathroom water tank

A family were shocked after finding a huge monitor lizard in their bathroom water tank.

Resident Suphot Jiwararat, 58, was frightened when he went to the loo and saw the giant reptile in Saraburi, central Thailand.

The 6ft long reptile had fallen through the ceiling tiles above and landed in the water, where it remained stuck.

Suphot called the emergency services for help for help removing the animal, which appeared to be enjoying soaking in water with temperatures outside reaching 42C.

The reptile specialists rushed to the scene with equipment and plucked the chubby lizard out of the water tank.

Suphot said he heard the ceiling crashing down in the kitchen while he was watching TV in living room with his wife.

When he stepped in, he was shocked to see the wild reptile rampaging into his place.

He said: "When I first saw the monitor lizard in my bathroom, I was shocked.

It had fallen from the ceiling and made a mess everywhere.

But it looked very comfortable in the water tank.'' The lizard was driven away and released into woodland several miles away.
