ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH SAYS ‘OUTSIDE ENTITY’ GAVE IT INACCURATE CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS
ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH SAYS ‘OUTSIDE ENTITY’ GAVE IT INACCURATE CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS
Up to 100 Negative Tests Were Reported to the State as Positive

In colbert county.

The big story with the numbers, as we mentioned is that the alabama department of public health had to fix inaccurate information regarding positive cases of the coronavirus.

Waay-31s alexis scott just spoke with doctor karen landers with the department of public health she joins us live with what the department is doing to make sure information moving forward is accurate.

Alexis?

Dr landers told me an outside agency incorrectly reported dozens of negative as positive to the state health department.

Dr. landers says the number of confirmed cases published to the department's website is correct... but that number could change as they work to continue to fix the problem and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Dr. landers says the reported cases came from throughout the state.

She said she is not able to disclose the name of the agency, but said up to 100 patients had the wrong test results according to the department of health.

Dr. landers says no individuals were wrongly admitted to a hospital or told given an incorrect diagnosis.

Physicians of those affected had the correct results... but the info given to the state was what was wrong.

"this was very rapidly discovered first of all, that there was a discrepancy and in addition to also remind that the outside entity is working very closely with the alabama department of public health to resolve this issue," doctor landers told me they're actively working on this issue..

But it could take days to completely fix .

Doctor landers told me she wants to reassure people who are going to get tested and those who were just recently tested... that they will get the correct test results.
