Essex crime: Crooks tried to blow up Halifax ATMs in Witham and Laindon with gas and fireworks - but got away with nothing

The duo targeted two different ATMs by using gas and fireworks to blow them open, which put "staff lives at risk" to create an explosion that would have been "like a bomb".
