Ever since Black Myth: Wukong has taken the game industry by fire, more Chinese developers have tried to replicate Elden Ring and Dark Souls formula. WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a game developed by Leenzee, a studio based in China, which is trying to further refine the soulslike formula. The game is set in an alternate history representation of Shu during the late Ming dynasty. The territory is ravaged by war and plague, a familiar status quo for every soulslike game. However, unlike many other games in the genre, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers doesn’t allow players to create their own characters. Instead, we’re forced to step into the shoes of the female pirate Bai Wuchang. Truth be told, the story wasn’t the strong point of most soulslike games, unless they’re made by FromSoftware, but Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is not the exception you’d think it is.
