Police are continuing to investigate the unexplained death of a woman in Exeter on Monday 8 June.

Officers were called to an address in Bernadette Close, Whipton, by the ambulance service at around 6pm.

A woman, aged in her 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Police have been carrying out door-to-door and CCTV enquiries as part of their investigation.

Results of a post-mortem have proven inconclusive and the death continues to be treated as unexplained.

A 51-year-old local man, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail until 6 July while enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Nattrass said: “Police enquiries are continuing and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this matter.”
