Dame Edith Sitwell & Marilyn Monroe: an unlikely pair?

Not so!

The two women were used to cruelty from their own families and critics.

Edith Sitwell published poetry, biographies and assisted young artists throughout England (including Welsh poet Dylan Thomas).

She was able to see parts of her own cruel childhood which included being forced into a steel back brace in Marilyn's abandonment by her father, mother and foster parents.

The two women sat down for a Life magazine interview in London in 1953.
