Kashmir wildlife authorities conduct census of endangered Hangul deer

The wildlife authorities in Jammu and Kashmir (JandK) have conducted a census of endangered Hangul (Kashmiri stag) found mainly in mountainous regions of the valley.

The week-long population count was conducted in Dachigam National Park and other wildlife reserves including in Tral and Ganderbal.

Dachigam National Park is the only sanctuary with viable population of Hangul.

Around 270 people comprising researchers, scholars, students and other people belonging to different government and non-government organisations participated in the exercise under the supervision of wildlife and environmental experts from April 03-09.
