Newswatch 12's tyler ridgle was at the josephne county court house today to hear his plea.

Tyler says: matthew fanelli has a history of not cooperating with police and today he entered a guilty plea to several charges.

Nat: how do you plead to count 11...guilty.

Vo: today matthew fanelli plead guilty to 11 charges -- among them were counts of attempted murder.

His attorney says though he has waived his rights to a trial he knows full well what he is giving up.

Sot: he clearly understands the law and so i have said over and over again, mr. fanelli is very bright.

Vo: despite his understanding for the law -- in february of 20-19 fanelli found himself in police custody for trying to steal multiple cars and shooting at a number of vehicles along the i-5 freeway.

He also attempted to flee police after an attempt to steal a car at the red robin in roseburg.

One man who suffered severe injuries from this criminal escapade spoke in court today to thank the people who saved his life after he says fanelli left him for dead.

Sot: tremendous trauma intervention was given to me...the paramedic from american medical response, incredible judgment.

Vo: since being in jail-- fanelli has managed to have another case against him for possession of a weapon as an inmate.

Sot: and mr. fanelli is currently shackled at the jail... yes.

Vo: he plans to plea guilty for that case as well and determination of how he will serve time for that case is to be determined.

Tyler says: march 29th at 1:30 in the afternoon is when he is scheduled for sentencing here at the court house -- and there are plans to have him restrained to protect others in the court room.
