Pills commonly sold at gas stations known as could soon be banned in alabama.

This comes as state senators are set to review a bill passed by the house.

It would make possession of them illegal.

Waay31s sierra phillips spent the day talking with health care professionals as well as a jackson county judge.

Sierra... do they see a lot of people abusing these pills?

According to the experts i talked with today its extremely common-- part of that is because its easy to come by.

You can pick it up at just about any gas station.

And-- its strong detox experts compared it to opiods.

People from highland's medical center's detox unit told me they see people abusing tianeptine all the time.

One counselor explained that the detox that comes after quitting is even worse than herion.

I spoke with the jackson county district court judge who also works over the family wellness program.

Its a program that helps parents reunite with their children after drug addiction.

He said through that program he sees parents hooked on tianeptine frequently and its frustrating to see it on gas station shelves.

"it flies all over me.

I've seen what it does to families and people and women and children."

Word added that the drug usually doesn't show up on a drug test.

The bill passed by the house that would classify tianeptine as a controlled substance still needs to be approved by the senate.
