If you have court the first week in January - it will now either be conducted virtually or rescheduled for a later date.

These changes come in an effort to control what is expected to be another surge in COVID cases following the holidays.

Or rescheduled for a later date.

These changes are an effort to control another expected covid surge following the holidays.

All initial hearings scheduled for the week of january 4th in the new tippecanoe superior court 7 will be rescheduled.

The court will issue new orders at a later date.

Other courts may cancel some hearings during high-volume times if they cannot be easily converted to remote hearings.

Superior court 6 judge michael morrissey says this change is needed especially when there are a high volume of cases being heard.

No cg phoner on monday mornings for example we will have 100 hearings set the same on tuesday mornings so we can't reset them all for the same day so we will be spreading them out but it just isn't practical to try and do 100 or more cases on any given morning remotely protective orders or a court restraining order would be considered an emergency and a case where the court rooms would hear the case in person.

However judge morrissey says emergencies will be handled on a case by case basis.

Paying child support..

Traffic tickets and any other payments will still be allowed in person but people are encouraged to use the drop box available in the entry of the courthouse.
