One of the concerns here at the shasta union high school district, is the lack of substitute teachers alan.

Sometimes they don't have enough to cover when teachers are off or out sick.

And the school district is coming up with creative ways like period subbing to make sure classes are covered.

That means other staff can fill in if no substitutes are available.

But the district says it's not a long term solution.

They're trying to be as fluid as possible and they know the best environment for learning is in the classroom ....they're trying to do their best with what resources they have// the thing that will drive us into distance learning the quickest, is the lack of staff.

We can modify for students if we send students home, we can accommodate them in distance learning.

But if simply don't have enough teachers or enough staff to open the school safely, then that would be the real tipping point in terms of moving into distance learning.

# and with finals coming up superintendent cloney says, right now, the focus is to make sure that last 2 weeks of this semester go smoothly.
