Just more than a month out from the election and one race will be familiar to mississippians---the u-s senate race between cindy hyde-smith and mike espy.

You've likely started seeing the ads---mike espy describing what he believes to be cindy hyde-smith's shortfalls and displaying crossover support from republcians.

And hyde-smith focusing on her record in washington the last two years.

Courtney ann jackson has the latest on the senate race.

Take a look.

Campaigning looking much different this go around in the senate race 2.0 for cindy hyde-smith and mike espy.

The latest poll by the tyson group shows a 41-40 percent split with hyde-smith narrowly leading.

Espy seizing the chance to tell supporters he believes a win is possible.

Hyde- smith not expressing concern.

"it's showed up in the polls.

I hope you've seen them.

We're still now just down one point."

"we feel really good about this.

Don't have a lot of confidence in that poll to be quite honest with you."

Espy has been holding events around the state--many outdoors.

Hyde- smith hasn't had any public campaign events in recent months.

Saying friday she'll be traveling around the state this weekend before returning to d.c.

Here's what she said when asked if she'd debate espy.

"i don't know if the schedule will allow that.

I don't mind debating him at all.

We've already done that.

But i am more concerned right now with the issues in front of us than i am a debate.

But i wouldn't mind doing it at all if the schedules allows that."

But espy warns that he believes momentum is on his campaign's side.

"if you hear noise, if it's coming from behind you...you might better look behind you cause it might be an oncoming train."

In 2018, jackson state professor dr. d'andra orey noted that the results bucked the historical trends with mike espy taking 46 percent of the vote.

"bill clinton received 44 percent of the vote when he ran in 1996 as a native son of the south and then you had barack obama who received 43 percent and from there it's down to about 40 percent of average that a democrat receives."

This year will have additional turnout factors---including the presidential race.

Natalie brand reports from walter reed national military medical center in maryland.

The president's physician and a team of doctors from walter reed said saturday the president is doing well& he's in exceptionally good spirits the quote he left us with was, 'i feel like i could walk out of here today,' and that was a very encouraging comment from the president.

But a source familiar with the president's health told reporters "vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,'' adding quote ''we're still not not on a clear path to a full recovery."

Cbs news has also confirmed the president was administered supplemental oxygen at the white house friday ábefore he was flown to walter reed in the evening.

It is not clear if the president was having trouble breathing at that time.

President trump's physician, dr. sean conley, deflected questions on that topic.

11;43;48;05 he's not on oxygen right now, that's right.

11;43;52;08 q: he's not received any at all?

11;43;54;21''he's not needed any this morning, today, at all, that's right.'' and new questions are now emerging about the timeline surrounding the president's diagnosis.

11:40:44 am just 72 hours into the diagnosis now.

In a white house statement issued shortly after, conley said he áincorrectly used the term 72 hours and should have said ''day three,'' adding that the president tested positive thursday night.

Earlier that same day-he attended a fundraiser in new jersey&he traveled to minnesota the day before.

It's still unclear exactly when the president began displaying symptoms and doctor conley declined to answer a question about when president trump last tested ánegative for the virus.

''i'm not goin to get into testing going back, but he and all staff routinely tested" as the white house continues contact tracing&the list of those in the president's circle who have now tested positive has grown.

Chris christie&is among the latest.

He's now one of 8 people who attended last saturday's white house ceremony for supreme court nominee amy coney barrett..who have since tested positive.

The event was put together by the education association of east oktibbeha county schools.

This group is made up of alumni from the old moor high school.

For the past several years, members have been trying to obtain to the rights to utilize the old moor high school building.

Right now, the facility is vacant, but members of the e-a-e-o-c-s, hope to change that.

When oktibbeha county and starkville consolidated school districts, they stopped using moor high school.

Moor alumni now want to use the old building for community purposes, like preserving history, remediation and enrichment programs for students and teachers, fitness programs, and possibly even a community storm shelter.

The purpose of todays rally, was to spread awareness for this project.

A monroe county deputy continues his path to recovery, with a little help from family and friends.

More on that story after the break, a monroe county deputy is recovering from an on duty accident with help from his family and friends in amory.

Chad groening joined them earlier today as they raised money for the road ahead.

It was perfect day to take to the links at the riverbirch golf course.

And if you weren't into golf, how about a cornhole tournament?

It was all for the benefit of monroe county deputy zack wilbanks.

Wilbanks was injured by a driver during a safety checkpoint the night of july 25th that killed his partner deputy dylan pickle.

Lee myatt was the event organizer.

"i think it's very very very important especially the way things are today, anytime we can support law enforcement i think that's a great thing to do."

And amory is a special community isn't it?

"it absolutely is.

We're very tight knit, most everybody around here is."

There were about 50 teams that participated in the cornhole tournament which was put on by pro- south cornhole, owned by johny box.

"of course i think all the law enforcement are important and you know they put their life on the line you know for us so it just seems like it's just a small contribution to come out here and support all i would assume medical bills or anything he has."

One of the participants in this weekend's golf tournament was wilbank's pastor lloyd sweatt, from amory's meadowood baptist church "i know when the accident happened we were praying for dylan and for zack and sheriff crook called and told me all the things that were going on and i know our church started praying.

And we've tried our best to encourage him since that time and he's done remarkably well, getting stronger and hasn't missed church and been there and his whole family.

Monroe county sheriff kevin crook has been impressed with the way the community has once again come together to support wilbanks.

"we greatly appreciate everybody that's chipped in and pitched in to help this happen and the sponsors and everybody that took the time even just orginally tossed around the idea of having this thing today and the turnout has been great.

The weather's been great and it's been for a great cause and so again our community has just come out and showed out and has blessed us and blessed their family and we are very grateful."

Wilbanks was very appreciative of this weekend's participation as he continues to mend from his injuries.

"its' just overwhelming continued support that i've talked about before you know and it's just more motivation to get back to work which is fastly approaching right now."

How are doing?

How is recovery going?

"so far i'm waiting for my leg to heal and i'm deaf in my left ear waiting on a hearing aid for that and this tournament's going to be support to that hearing aid.

But besides that that's pretty much it, the leg and the hearing."

Chad groening, wcbi news, amory.

Wilbanks says there is no definite time frame on when he will able to return to full duty.

Rain chances remain at if you're a big gamer, there are some pretty exciting new consoles coming out later this fall.

Let's check them out.

I'm emily cassulo, and this is tech byte.

New game consoles out later this fall / tech byte we're in a new season, and that means new video game consoles to take advantage of, as the temperatures drop, and we spend more time indoors.

You can now preorder microsoft's new xbox series s and x consoles.

And you better do it soon!

They're already out of stock at most retailers.

Microsoft says the x console is its fastest, most powerful xbox.

The x may be true 4k gaming, but microsoft says it should still work with thousands of games from four generations of xbox.

The price runs at about $500.

You can pay about $200 less for a less powerful, and smaller version of the x console - xbox series s.

It's so small, this is actually the smallest xbox you can get.

For that reason, there's no disc drive, so you'll have to stick with digital downloads for your games.

Both xbox series x and s will be available november 10.

If the xbox isn't exactly your style, there's also another new gaming console to choose from - the playstation 5.

Sony's ps5 also comes in two versions, and works with a 4k tv.

The more expensive one at about $500 has a blu-ray drive.

The cheaper console - which is $100 less - only uses digital downloads.

This playstation also features exclusive games, like "marvel's spider-man: miles morales."

It comes out november 12.

If you're not ready to splurge on the new xbox or playstation just yet, you could always wait a couple more weeks to see what black friday deals are out there.

Especially on an older version of the console.
