Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood tells NEWSChannel 2 they found a body Sunday morning, but cannot confirm it's Elizabeth Garrow McDonald.

They are waiting on autopsy results.

Whether it's the body of elizabeth or not.

Newschannel 2's brent kearney went to canastota today.

He has details on the search.

"just down the road from where i'm standing now is a crime scene for where madison county sheriff's deputies recovered a body.

Although it is too early to determine the identity of the body, they're confident based off of tattoos that it is elizabeth garrow."

After 4 days of tirelessly searching, madision county sheriff's deputies believe their search for 19 year old elizabeth garrow has come to an end.

None "their is an identification process that we need to wait for.

In all probability this is her, this is who we are looking for, but we have to wait for the process before making that announcement."

Sheriff hood tells me the body was found here on north main about a mile from where garrow went missing at this dunkin donuts.

Hood tells me deputies located the body next to a bridge that runs over the thruway.

Forensics teams now working to determine a cause of death.

"the medical examiners office is out here, the state police forensic unit is out here.

Photographs collecting evidence, everything that goes along with that."

Garrow's husband, 24 year old george mcdonald junior is currently being housed in the madison county jail after being arrested for a parole violation.

The violation was related to a domestic incident between him and his wife.

Whether he is a suspect in the investigation is unkown, but law enforcement is just happy the family can have closure.

"i have kids we all have family members.

You could just put yourself in their shoes as far as dealing with this.

The uncertainty of going for four days not knowing and hoping and then to have this happen.

And i'll say it again our deepest sympathies go out from law enforcement to this family.

It's a tragedy."
