Drive-In movie theatre opens in Chico

Friday was the grand opening of Meriam Park's drive-in movie theatre in Chico.

Meriam park celebrated the launch of its brand new drive- in movie theatre.

Action news now reporter kristian lopez gives us a look at how the big night went.

Kristian: you can see dozens of cars lining up to enter meriam parks drive in movie theatre, people say they are excited to get out of the house.

Nats ty webb/attended movie: its fun because you can go outside we've all been stuck inside for months.

Linda mobilio/attended movie: oh my gosh so excited and so happy that people were bringing this to our town so families could be together.

Dan gonzales: theres excitement in the air, people saying they havent done anything since march its nice to see the smiles on their faces kristian:they also have a concession stand with food like hot dogs, popcorn, and they also have beer and wine.

You can see they have about 20 tables spaced 12 feet apart.

Dan gonzales: its a culmination of what we have been planning, this went up quick, to see the public excited and the kids running around, its nice, you can see we have a packed house tonight.

Kristian: the theatre will be open on thursday fridays and saturdays.

They do stop selling alcohol 15 minutes befor* the drive in closes people say they are excited to get out of the house.
