A Magalia man says he's been facing obstacles during the rebuilding process on the ridge, nearly two years after the Camp Fire.

Coronavirus pandemic -- throwing a wrench in camp fire rebuilding efforts for some people on the ridge.

Kristian intro: nearly two years since the camp fire ripped through this area, larry ferreira says he's still running into many issues while trying to rebuild his home.

Larry ferreira/lives in magalia: everybody has a different situation we need a personal touch, we need some of these fees waived so we can get the process rolling.

Ferreira says he's facing obstacles with the county while trying to start the rebulding process in magalia.

They arent letting us get into the building because of the pandemic.

I cant get in to find the records i need to find them before they come out.

We're living within an rv and a fifth wheel, i think its going to be this way all winter, theres no way ive been able to get anything done because i cant in because of covid.

Kristian stand up: i took ferrerias concerns straight to county officials.

Curtis johnson/building division manager: we are putting a priority on camp fire recovery even though we are in disaster response at the moment.

Building division manager curtis johnson says even though there office is closed during the pandemic, they are still offering help remotely.

Curtis johnson/building division manager: there are a lot of unique situations out there, so we try to have those one on one conversations.

It is difficult to cover a variety of situations.

I asked if there was any way to waive the permit fees.

We have grant funding opportunities that can help offset the cost of the permits.

Kristian: can they still obtain their records even though the office is closed?

Johnson: we will allow applicants or homeowners to access them online, we can email documents to them, we dont print them out but we will provide access to those records.

Johnson: any body that feels that they arent getting adequate customer service, i encourage them to contact me directly.

There are kristian: johnson says he plans to get in contact with ferreira so he can answer any questions he may have and find out the best way to move forward.

Johnson says they handle all situations on a case by case basis.

They are handling all requests via phone but if people need to meet on site they can make arrangements for that.
