University of mississippi medical center and och regional medical center teamed up on state's campus today to provide free drive through coronavirus testing to students, faculty, and staff.

Assistant vp for student affairs, jeremy baham, says he hopes the ease of this process brought more students to get tested.

Jeremy baham - assistant vp for student affairs at msu: "this just allows you to never get out of your car.

You drive up, you get swabbed in your car, and you drive off.

So, it's quick, it's easy and makes it hopefully a very easy process for our community."

He also believes the drive through process may help in unveiling those who are asymptomatic.

Jeremy baham: "since so many people are asymptomatic, this is just a great way to be able to stop through, you get the test, it's easy, you get the results and if it was something that took longer and was more of an invasive process you might never even think to come in and do it."

Along with the drive through testing, sid salter, chief communications officer at msu, says msu is working to utilize all facilities as in- person classrooms to maintain social distancing.

The school is also using other assets of the university like the veterinary school to help the community cope with the virus.

Sid salter - chief communications officer at msu: "as of today, we feel good about where we are and where we're headed and we hope our students and faculty and staff will continue to follow the awareness guidelines."
