New Hartford Central Schools tentative plan
New hartford school districts (tentative( plans to keep students active and safe this fall.
Robert noles: will pe in music class band be offered as normal?
Do you students need to wear a mask during that time?
A common question that parents and students are asking.
Judeanne rockford: pe will be in the gymnasium for the students that are in the hybrid model.
They do need to follow those social distancing guidelines of 12 feet.
And they also will be wearing their masks.
They will be doing low impact activities they will not be changing into the gym clothes.
The size of phys-ed classes will shrink due to the schools capacity and there will be less equipment used.
John baneck: on the elementary school k through 2 students they are going to be focusing a lot on local motor skills and hand and foot skills and doing that individually.
Secondary schools we have traditionally done a fitness circuit which we can maintain at 12 foot social distancing.
The more time we can spend outside the easier it is to be socially distant.
So i would imagine especially in the older grades you'll see physical education outside more than they have been in the past for as long as possible anyway.
For new hartford students who choose to learn fully remotely, phys-ed could look like this.
John banek: right now conceptually our staff is doing a good job where they plan on video taping workouts and they will be able to send those videotapes to our students virtually and that will be the instructional model that they will follow.
The physical- education staff is working to have a more complete plan to review with administration over the next 3 or 4 days.
