Dining on the street could soon come to the City of Orland

The city already issues permits for restaurant owners to expand outdoor dining to sidewalks or parking lots.

But now- they want to add a new patio area in the city.

The city is looking to possibly put picnic tables and tents on this parking lot& it right next to pizza palace on.

The other option: block off a portion of the same street and allow customers to eat takeout there.

I spoke to orland city manager pete carr& he says, nearby restaurant owners suggested this option as a way to drive more business to downtown.

It be as nice as indoor dining but it would be a place that people with a carryout meal can just turn around and walk to.

Enjoy their meal, there would be trash service there.

The restaurants would cooperatively take care of the busing of the area.

The city would provide the trash service itself?

Carr adds... another option to expanding outdoor dining would be to utilize nearby open areas- such as library park on th.

The park already has picnic tables, trash bins, shade, and parking.

If the plan gets the go-ahead, food trucks would also be allowed to park in a portion of the parking lot next to pizza palace.
