Rob palmieri announced today that assistance is now available for both tenants and homeowners that have had trouble paying their rent or mortgage because of the pandemic.

News channel 2's caitlin irla live here in the studio to tell us who qualifies for these funds.

Renters and homeowners affected by the coronavirus pandemic can now receive assistance from the city of utica.

Applications will be available starting monday... and the funds will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The program is income based and can provide up to three months of rent or mortgage payments.

The money was secured through the cares act.

After the cares act was passed, the city was waiting for the department of housing and urban development, or hud, to release rules and regulations for the funding.
