Continue to take over the heart of downtown lexington...after lexington leaders met today to discuss possible changes to policing in the city.

It's the 19th night of continuous marches.

But tonight, as abc 36's monica harkins reports, protesters say...this movement... is about more than just marching.

She's live now downtown.

### nightly protests continued in lexington tonight, but a turning point for this movement was earlier today...where words in a city council meeting amplified the chants and demands for police accountability we've mostly been seeing marching down the street.

This afternoon the public safety city council committee addressed protesters demands in a virtual meeting.

The meeting was about 6 hours long...and the capacity for people joining in the virtual meeting reached its maximum at 100 people.

It was a time councilmembers, lexington police and the fraternal order of police discussed police accountability, including no knock warrants and a civilian review board, to name a few.

Sarah williams and jay calhoun have been two main leaders pushing for change for more than 6 years here in lexington.

They say overall today's council meeting was a move in the right direction.

23 sec "we are more than just taking to the streets.

We are in movement truly seeking change.

And we are going for the root of the problem.

While the fop president attempted to totally dismiss our demands about finding a few in accuracies, you know, it was really brought to the forefront by council members and other people offering public comment.

You actually offered no solutions we took this opportunity to just like try to discredit instead of actually bringing solutions to the table."

And the public was listening and watching...there was so much participation this afternoon...the city is hosting another round of public comment at 5 pm in another virtual meeting.

Williams and calhoun say they hope people will show up to continue to make this movement about lasting change.
