Few months, colgate university basketball standout jordan burns, has been in one of the most uncertain yet exciting times in his life.

Between the coronavrius pandemic and declaring for the n- b-a draft.

But for him, what is for certain is that the recent death of george floyd puts the foreseeable future into perspective.

George floyd, jordan burns.

Two texas natives.

Jordan burns: i think this one hit home for a lot of people i think just i think people are just sick of seeing police brutality and just racism continue to run rampant just within our society.

I think people that don't acknowledge it continue to i think make things worse.

Burns says these acts of racial injustice inspire him to encourage those who come after him.

Jordan burns: i'm going to stay positive i'm trying to figure out what i'm going to do kind of for the year.

And try to make them realize that they can do what they want to do sale even though their racism they can you know persevere through all types of adversity because we are strong as black people.

He says that he's had great dialogue with his coaches and teammates about this issues.

Jordan burns: everyone of my cold 18 minutes and coaches we've had dialogue about it and really they just open the floor just trying to figure out ways we can make it better for each other i think.

This month, the n-c- a-a announced that its deadline for players to withdrawal from the n-b-a draft and maintain college eligibility has been extended to august 3 or 10 days after the draft combine.

Which burns took advantage of.

Just 48 hours after our interview, he released a statement on social media stating that he is returning for his senior season.

After a tough loss to boston university in the patriot league final in march, burns is ready for another shot.

Chelsea: does that feeling of unfinished business play any part in your decision to return for your senior year?

Jordan burns: i'd be lying if i told you know so i'm a competitor at heart.

I love to win.

I haven't even been able to watch that game.

I probably never well in my life so i wouldn't just choose to go back to school just because of that but that definitely is a big factor in trying to get me back on that floor for sure.

Run it back!

Burns returns as arguably the best player in the patriot league but his optimism outshines his game.
