Utica Church holds Drive-In Movie

Our Lady of Lourdes church on Genesee street, opened up their parking lot to look like a movie theater Thursday night for an outdoor Drive-In movie.

Tonight-movie theaters may still be closed, but one local church found a way to show a movie outdoors tonight.

The movie was despicable me.

Around 50 cars full of families were welcomed to stage in the parking lot and turn their radios to a specific channel to see the movie.

This was the first time our lady of lourdes hosted a drive in movie.

One parishioner from the church says a drive in movie brings back memories for her growing up.

"when i was a kid, i was one of six kids and we have a huge buick stationwagon, and i have good memories of my parents actually taking us out to a drive-in movie and open up the back of the buick and we would all kind of hang out watching that movie."

"we're trying to do something that's enjoyable and family fun especially for our children.

As we are still in the midst of this pandemic.

The cost of admission was $20 a car, which would give you a family size popcorn and four bottles of water.

Proceeds from that cost will go to the church's covid fund.
