Front slowly pushingnorthward.

Temps range widely,due partly to the remnants ofthe cooler air mass which areslowly but surely being mixedout.

Temps as of 3 AM rangefrom the lower 60s to thelower 80s across the region,which is quite a spread forearly this morning.

Whilemostly dry conditions prevail,a stray shower canút be ruledout as some shortwave energycrosses the region.

This hasbeen accompanied bythunderstorms droppingsouthward from PA, but theseshould diminish beforereaching our region.

Still,the best chance of a showerearly this morning is innortheastern MD.

With the muchwarmer air mass being solidlyin place and limited cloudcover, today looks like thehot day it has long beenadvertised, with highsreaching the low to mid 90s.Fortunately, dew points willremain fairly low, in the 60s,so heat indices are notexpected to reach 100 or aboveanywhere.

Still, this heat maybe a shock to the system, socaution should be exercised onthis first hot day of theyear.

Shortwave energy and anapproaching cold front fromthe north will causethunderstorms to develop in PAthis afternoon.

Some of thesemay try to reach our region,especially locations near thePA border, late this afternoonand this evening, and withadequate CAPE and shear, somesevere weather is possible.Biggest threat will bedamaging winds and perhapssome hail.

Strong westerlydownslope flow most likelyhelps storms to weaken beforeapproaching DC and Baltimoreproper, but a marginal severeweather risk exists down tothe ━66/US 50 corridor, witha slight risk further north,primarily over northern MD.WednesdayIsolated showers,then scattered showers andthunderstorms after 2pm.

Somestorms could be severe, withlarge hail and damaging winds.Partly sunny, with a high near92.

West wind 10 to 15 mph,with gusts as high as 24 mph.Chance of precipitation is30%.

Wednesday NightScatteredshowers and thunderstormsbefore 11pm, then scatteredshowers between 11pm and 2am.Some storms could be severe,with large hail and damagingwinds.

Mostly cloudy, with alow around 69.

West wind 7 to11 mph, with gusts as high as18 mph.
