Hundreds, including local police and firefighters, support Class of 2020 in graduation parades

Newswatch 12's cameron derby was there and shows us what the day looked like.

The class of 2020 has sacrificed a lot.

Prom, sports seasons, and much more.

Today, they met their old elementary school teachers before boarding busses, and heading out on a parade route.

"it's wonderful because you know as a first grade teacher we don't always get to see students later on in life.

So, to be able to hear from them about what their plans are after graduation has been super exciting."

First they put their faces on the banners, the banners on the bus, then they get on the bus, space out for social distancing, and reflect.

"it is going to be historical.

But it is something we can all enjoy and be able to learn."

The view inside the bus is just as exciting as the view outside of the bus.

They loop their middle schools, and then get a tribute from local first responders on jackson street.

"the kids are brilliant.

The get a bad rap sometimes you know?

Just as we did when we were younger.

"oh kids today just are not doing the same thing."

But the things that we are asking them to do in the classroom are so much more elevated, and higher, and complex than we were ever asked to do."
