Marist Girls Tennis made its mark with a state title in 2019.

Decades since marist girls tennis won a team state title.

That was until 2019.

A mark in marist history that will live forever -- in large part to the spartan seniors.

Julian mininsohn highlights them in our next kezi 9 senior sports series.

(kallie harding) "we would carpool to all of our away matches.

I think that made us all very close."

(ellie gonyea) "and i don't think it would be the same without our team.

Marist seniors kallie harding and ellie gonyea never played together as doubles on the tennis court.

But the two will be forever linked for what they accomplished.

(ellie) "it doesn't feel like we left anything unfinished from last year."

In 2019 marist girls tennis won its first team state title in more than 20 years.

(kallie) "our team chemistry last year was awesome.

I think getting that team win was really special for everybody."

Especially for kallie and ellie?who won't get the chance to repeat as champs or play that final senior day match.

(ellie) "i just had really high hopes for this season.

To find out that wasn't going to happen anymore was just really upsetting."

However -- for these seniors & the good memories will last way longer than the disappointment.

(ellie) "we will have like themed practices where it's like crazy sock day or it'll be hawaiian luau-themed and stuff.

Those are always fun because you get to see your teammates personalities."

Because a forgotten season will be just that?forgotten.

What will always be remembered is what these two meant to the program.

(jeff priske) "we definitely form strong bonds are supportive of one another.

These two are definitely good leadership examples.

A lasting legacy?and lifelong friendships.

(kallie) "there's like no separation between seniors and freshman.

Everyone is close.

It doesn't matter the age."

(ellie) "just the memories with all those people in my life now because of tennis probably the most important thing.
