It's important to remember that it isn't just a place of entertainment and recreation, it's a huge economic driver for oneida county.

"let's not forget they're still by far the largest employer in central new york and clearly in oneida county and our goal throughout this reopening is getting people back to work and right now there are close to five thousand people there that are not working right now."

Oneida county executive anthony picente says the reopening plan put together by the oneida indian nation prioritizes safety first for all visitors and employees along with the need to reopen the local economy for the benefit of all oneida county residents.

"that's important for all of those individuals and families to get back to work and clearly its an economic driver for us as a region."

The county executive says he was involved in this process, and believes the plans are thorough and measured.

"they began putting a plan together i think they have probably one of the most detailed, if not the most detailed plans for an opening especially in that line of entertainment or venue for a casino that clearly meets or exceeds the standards that cdc or anybody would put forth regarding protection of their employees and their guests.."
