New information -- the air force gave health care workers across north alabama a special salute today.

The u.s. air force reserve wing passed over 10 cities including florence.

It's first time hospitals in the shoals received a flyover to show support to front line workers during the pandemic.

You can see the rain didn't stop dozens of people from being at the north alabama medical center.

They watched the planes make their way over the city.

The aircraft then made it's way to decatur.

Decatur morgan hospital employees told us they are thankful that they were selected as one of the hospitals for the air force fly over.

Several of them watched the planes fly outside.

One employee told waay 31 that is something they always look forward to.

"it gives us something to break up all of the stress of everyday work.

And to just come out and watch, watch the appreciation."

Employees told us they greatly appreciate all the people who show their love and support for the work they do.

The air force continued its journey west and made it's way over huntsville hospital.

Nurses and bystanders gathered along the sidewalk and the garage roof to watch the display.

One person told us they were excited to see the flyover - and it was even personal for them.

"it was amazing just to see them flyover and it was amazing for their support.

I'm thankful everyday that i have brothers that serve in the military., i have two of them, one in the national guard and one in the military.

So, it's pretty cool to pay my respects them and the nurses and first line responders."

Today marked the second flyover in north alabama within a week.
