Deaths.### we're in day two of phase two for reopening the state... that means florists are now back in business-- just in time for mothers day... one of their busiest days of the year.
Action news now reporter kristian lopez shows us how one local florist is gearing up for the big weekend.
Kristian intro: these are some of the flowers getting ready to go out just in time for mother's day.
Rachelle neal/owner of flowers by rachelle: people have no other way to be together they have no way to touch each other than through flowers rachelle: "people were so desperate to be able to be with their families and reach out flowers were the only way they could do that."
But there are unexpected challenges during this pandemic unfortunately we are kind of having a worldwide flower shortage because for the last 6 weeks flower growers have been plowing their fields because florists have not been open and have not been able to buy.
But neal says business is blooming this mothers day weekend&.
And they're taking all the precautions.
All of my drivers and staff are wearing masks, we have hand sanitizer at all the stations, everyone is using hand sanitizer we have soap and three different hand washing stations.
She says all the deliveries are contact free.
Rachelle: the deliveries are left on porches and then they call them to come get them there is no contact in the deliveries.
Despite losing revenue from large events, they are staying optimistic.
Rachelle: my weddings have postponed not cancelled i think the fall and next year will be a really big wedding year.
Kristian tag: they expect about 500 deliveries this weekend which is more than it has been in past years.
