Team blaze at the columbus air force base is gearing up to send a special message to health care workers in the air over north mississippi.

Scott martin talks with colonel weeks about a flyover happening this weekend.

On this saturday columbus air force base is going to fly a three ship.

A t6, a t1, and a t38, the aircraft that we fly here, across northeast mississippi so we can thank the healthcare workers who have been fighting and protecting our population against covid-19 over the last two months.

Scott--this is something that air force bases across the u.s. have been doing, i know you mentioned atlanta, how'd you all come up with this idea.

Weeks-the department of defense came up with it.

We just want to recognize and thank all of our healthcare workers for their relentless efforts to make sure that we can care for our population as we fight this virus.

Scott- how long have you been planning this flyover?

Weeks- we've been planning for over a week to make sure that we can demonstrate our air power as well as our gratitude to our community.

Scott- how excited are you guys to finally take to the skies?

Weeks--the entire team at team blaze is excited to do this.

This is an opportunity for us to thank you, as well as showcase not only our planes, but our heritage, so make sure you look up in the sky this saturday because you'll see very unique paint schemes on our aircraft which is reminiscent of our history at columbus air force base and the united states air force.

Scott- so this will be something a lot of people can get excited about and peek out their window?

Weeks- we hope so.

We're going to start over in tupelo, then go across amory, aberdeen, west point, starkville, and finish over baptist in columbus as well as our own medical treatment facility on the air force base.

Scott- is there a messages, as people are looking in the sky seeing what you're doing, is there a message you want to send out?

Weeks- there are two messages.

First we want to thank everybody who's fighting the virus and flattening the curve to fight this virus.

The one thing we do ask is as you watch us, please make sure you're six feet away from each other so that we don't have differing messages as we enjoy a great saturday, air power and thanking our health care workers.

I'm about to leave columbus air force base and i really want to thank the golden triangle region and the columbus city, truly being the friendly city, everything you do for our base, our airman, and our community.

It's been my honor privilege to lead this base as well as be a part of this community so thank you very much from me and my family."
