Investigators say 72-year-old john slack of indianapolis was driving west in the eastbound lane.

The semi driver and a co-driver were not injured... but slack was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating what led to the crash.

While crews worked to clear accident debris and direct traffic... another driver rear-end a state trooper.

According to indiana state police... trooper troy cobb was inside his car with his emergency lights on when he was hit.
