Keep the numbers in check,,, people are encouraged to stay at home as much as possible .... that means many students and parents must rely on the internet for school and work ... wtvas nicole dantzler is live with one family who has problems trying to access the web.

More and more people have to rely on the internet.

But one family i spoke with says their service is just too unreliable.

And at this point their frustrated.

Are different ."

Years without reliable internet has cassandra palmer looking for other options.

"we're in a better situation than some.

We have some internet, but it's still not a good situation."

Cassandra palmer-wants better internet 0:05;11-0:11;15 shes been a member of four county electric power association and hopes the company will decide to offer broadband services.

"i was super excited to see they were considering the matter.

Cassandra has four kids and a husband whose been working from home all at the same time during the coronavirus pandemic.

"if my kids have a zoom call, they have to have wifi to use their ipads there's no way they can use data for that.

And so i let to have them have the wifi and then i have to either postpone a counseling session and/or use my facetime or something different."

Cassandra's son josiah said its hard to do his school work at home.

"once you get on you don't know what's going on."

And her youngest daughter sadie said when the internet goes down, she reads her favorite book.

"little house on the big woods."

Cassandra and her family use a-t and t's digital subscriber line..but said its too slow.

"the service is much worse.

It doesn't work very well...but sometimes it's impossible for us to get any service.

I think it was out 5 days last week."

The starkville oktibbeha consolidated school district superintendent said teachers have been working diligently with students who have limited or no access to the internet.

((sot)) "we have had teachers to contact call parents and call students and have phone conversations about the learning."

Eddie peasant-superintendent 1:23-1:33 butted-cassandra palmer "i'm really grateful for what our school has done.

They have been very supportive and understanding that everybody's circumstances are different."

Superintendent eddie peasant said district employees are working on more ways to help students and families without access to reliable internet.
