A man has been shot and injured in a police-involved shooting near downtown Lafayette.

It happened in the parking lot of the Tippecanoe County Health Department office building.

He joins us now with the latest developments trevor?

Good morning... ( ad-lib) but here is what police say happened.

Jut after 1:20 this mroning, police were called to the 600 block of north 6th street for an unwanted guest.

You can see a map on your screen.

That's the location of the building containing the tippecanoe county health department, coroner's office and tema.

At some point, lt.

Matt gard says lafayette police officers were involved in shooting the man.

He was taken to the hospital.

Gard was unable to say the extent of his injuries or how many officers were involved.

However, no officers were injured.

He could not release how many shots fired or where the man was hit.

"right now, there is nobody outstanding that we are looking for as far as being a suspect in this case," said lt.

Gard.

"we are investigating this and interviewing witnesses at this time."

Gard says it is still early on to say if an officer or officers have been put on leave.

He says those decisions will be made later today.

The area is still c police plan to be here for several more hours.
